Thomson, S. Harrison, Collection of Photostats and Microfilms English Medieval Manuscripts ca. 13th century

The S. Harrison Thomson Collection comprises photostats and microfilms of medieval manuscripts gathered by Thomson. Thomson (1895-1975) was professor of medieval history at the University of Colorado and founding editor of Medievalia et Humanistica and the Journal of Central European Affairs. The collection contains complete or partial facsimiles of 383 manuscripts from nearly 80 libraries throughout Europe and the United States. The focal point of the collection is the writings of Robert Grosseteste, 13th century Bishop of Lincoln, but the works of Walter Burley, John Wyclyf, and other medieval thinkers are also included.

Gualterus Burlaeus, also known as Walter of Burley (or Burleigh) was an English scholar and philosopher. He studied at Oxford under Duns Scotus, taught at Paris, and was envoy to the Vatican. He wrote on the lives of the early philosophers, including Aristotle, with whom he occasionally disagreed. At least fifty works are attributed to him.
